Jiang Zaidong visits Confucius Institute in University of Karachi making remarks on the significance of education and bilateral cooperation.

On September 6, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong visited the University of Karachi, exchanged views with President Khaled and teachers and students of the Confucius Institute, and deeply mourned the Chinese teachers killed in the April 26 terrorist attack.

KU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Iraqi informed the visitors that the university takes pride in having a steadfast friend like China, which has consistently supported Pakistan on international platforms. He expressed hope that the visit of the Chinese delegation, especially Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, would further strengthen ties at both institutional and global levels.

Dr. Iraqi highlighted KU’s strong partnership with Sichuan Normal University, which has been instrumental in supporting the Confucius Institute (CI) on campus. He acknowledged the significant contributions of both the Chinese and Pakistani directors of the CI in improving its facilities and standards.

Dr. Iraqi emphasized that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a vital project for Pakistan’s economic development and prosperity, marking a key step forward for the nation’s growth.

He stated, “I am committed to addressing security concerns on one front, but on the other, at the university level, we are dedicated to fostering public support for the CPEC, which is a crucial factor.” Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong praised KU VC Professor Dr. Khalid Iraqi for his views on China-Pakistan relations and the development of CPEC.

Jiang Zaidong noted that Dr. Iraqi had provided a thorough explanation of the bilateral and international cooperation between the two countries. He further acknowledged the significant contributions of both Dr. Khalid Iraqi and CI’s Pakistani Director, Professor Dr. Nasiruddin Khan, in advancing the development of the Confucius Institute at KU. The ambassador also highlighted the impressive size of the University of Karachi, which, with around 50,000 students, is an uncommon phenomenon both in Pakistan and globally.
