 Japanese investors to invest in SEZs and other Pakistani Sectors

Japanese companies and investors have shown interest in investing in different sectors in Pakistan including the Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

A delegation of Japanese companies operating in Pakistan and Japan called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Monday. The Japanese delegation expressed confidence in the business-friendly policies of the government of Premier Shehbaz Sharif. “They showed keen interest in increasing Japanese investment in automobile, food processing, renewable energy, textile, communication, SEZs, and auto parts manufacturing sectors,” said an official statement.

Regarding the issues of Japanese investors, the Prime Minister constituted a committee to resolve their issues and directed the concerned departments to present a report within one week. Finance Minister Miftah Ismail and Federal Minister for Power Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan were also present during the meeting.

Recently, Kango Hayashi, Head of Japan Centre of PLUS-W in a meeting with the Secretary Federal Board of Investment (BOI), informed that his organization has been designated by the government of Japan to tap Pakistan’s immense potential in the IT sector by hiring the country’s IT resources for the provision of IT solutions to Japanese enterprises working in Japan. It was further emphasized that the Japanese representative office will be housed in one of the leading universities in Pakistan.
