The Harbin Ice-Snow World, recognized as the largest ice-and-snow theme park globally, has achieved a record-breaking milestone by attracting over 1 million visitors just 20 days after its opening. This annual winter attraction has been delighting visitors for 26 years.
Located in Harbin, the capital of northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, the city has solidified its reputation as a premier winter travel destination, drawing tourists from around the world.
This year’s Harbin Ice-Snow World, the largest in its history, spans 1 million square meters, up from 800,000 square meters last year. Its construction required over 300,000 cubic meters of ice and snow, making it a standout landmark of the city.
By 10 p.m. on Thursday, the park recorded 1.03 million visitors since its opening on December 21, 2024.
The park’s design this year incorporates themes inspired by the upcoming 2025 Harbin Asian Winter Games, which will begin in February, and the Spring Festival, scheduled for late January.
Beyond its signature attractions, including ice slides, palaces, sculptures, and various snow sports, visitors are also captivated by Harbin’s local cuisine. A highlight is the big hotpot, featuring over 30 ingredients and offering a hearty, warming meal.
According to the Harbin Cultural and Tourism Bureau, from November 1, 2024, to January 7, 2025, the city witnessed an 18.6 percent increase in visitors compared to the same period last year, with foreign tourist numbers surging by 41.1 percent year-on-year.
