Gwadar delegation visits Zhengzhou for agricultural cooperation leading to a key agreement and new doors for research
A high-level 10-member agricultural delegation from Gwadar completed a five-day visit to Zhengzhou in China’s Henan Province from June 16 to 20, aiming to strengthen Pakistan-China collaboration in agriculture, education, and ecological development.
Comprising agricultural experts and enterprise representatives, the delegation actively participated in knowledge-sharing sessions and explored several areas of cooperation, according to Gwadar Pro.
The visit began with a tour of the Zhengzhou Garden Expo’s modern tissue culture lab and nursery base, where the delegates observed advanced Chinese plant propagation techniques and nursery management practices.
In the field of education, the delegation visited primary and secondary schools in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, discussing opportunities for student and faculty exchanges and expressing interest in China’s integration of ecological farming into school curricula.
At the Henan Academy of Sciences, the delegates engaged in technical discussions with researchers at the Laser Manufacturing Research Institute, exploring how laser technology could be applied to Gwadar’s agricultural development. A visit to Zhongmu County’s garlic planting base further provided hands-on insights into high-yield farming and post-harvest processing.
A key achievement of the trip was the signing of a significant Sino-Pak Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement at Henan Agricultural University, focusing on the cultivation and utilization of Paulownia and other plants. This agreement is expected to foster joint research and facilitate technology transfer.
The delegation also engaged in cultural exchange, including a visit to the historic Shaolin Temple. Business discussions with Yulin Holding Company opened the door to future investment opportunities.
Experts suggest that such agricultural and scientific exchanges under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will play a crucial role in transforming Gwadar into an agricultural center and ensuring regional food security.
Delegation member Owais Mir expressed hope that the insights gained from the visit would be effectively applied to enhance Gwadar’s agricultural productivity and export capacity.
