The construction and development of the old city, protection of rights of local population and their partnership are of utmost importance in the development of Gwadar,” Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo said while chairing the 23rd Governing Body meeting of Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) on Monday.
Muhammad Aslam Bhootani and Mir Hamal Kalmati, who represent Gwadar in national and provincial assemblies respectively, also attended the meeting. Mujeeb ur Rahman Qambarani, Director General GDA, briefed the meeting on agenda items. During the meeting, GDA’s budget also came under discussion while the revenue and expenditures of the authority were reviewed. The meeting approved the proposed budget for FY 2021-2022 and Amended Budget 2020-21 as well.
The body discussed issues related to town planning besides giving approval to several amendments in clauses related to town planning. The meeting in principle approved an amendment to GDA Act 2022.
The meeting also approved the creation of new jobs and decided to make permanent the contractual employees of GDA. The body during the meeting passed the cases of the promotion of several employees. The meeting also approved issuing NOC to Cadet College Gwadar.
Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo told the meeting that GDA is responsible for the development of Gwadar and being an independent entity it should ensure “timely execution of Gwadar development projects”. He said that there is a master plan for the development of Gwadar, which also includes guidelines for the development of the port city.
