The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) announced on Sunday that it has activated a one-million-gallon underground water storage tank located at Central Park to improve water supply for several residential neighborhoods in the city.
The launch of the facility was carried out under the special directives of GDA Director General Moin ur Rehman Khan. The project includes a fully equipped pumping station and electrical infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted water distribution.
With the system now operational, consistent water supply has started in areas such as Faqir Colony South, GDA Colony, Kalanchi Para, Naya Abad, and Shambay Ismail Ward. GDA officials also confirmed that testing and transmission of new pipelines for Faqir Colony North and Dhoor Ghati will begin soon.
In an official statement, the GDA described the development as a major advancement in addressing Gwadar’s chronic water shortage, reaffirming its commitment to providing reliable and continuous water services to residents.
Authorities have encouraged residents to submit their applications for domestic water connections without delay to ensure timely inclusion in the expanding supply network.
The Central Park water tank, part of a broader initiative launched in 2022, is one of three planned underground water storage facilities for the city.
