Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the UN Security Council meeting on multilateralism. They discussed various aspects of bilateral relations, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
According to a press release from Pakistan’s Mission, the two leaders also exchanged views on key global and regional issues of mutual interest in a friendly and constructive manner.
Senator Dar expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in Pakistan-China relations, emphasizing that Pakistan’s friendship with China remains a central pillar of its foreign policy. He highlighted the unanimous national consensus in Pakistan for strengthening bilateral ties further.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s steadfast support for China on its core interests, Senator Dar underscored that Pakistan-China cooperation is vital for regional peace, stability, and prosperity. He also expressed gratitude to China for its unwavering support on Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and key issues such as the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation to new heights.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in response, emphasized that Pakistan holds a special place in China’s foreign policy, including its role as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. He reassured that China would continue to provide firm support to Pakistan on its core concerns and socio-economic development.
Guided by the shared vision of their leadership and the aspirations of their people, Wang Yi stressed that China would further strengthen its longstanding strategic partnership with Pakistan to safeguard mutual interests.
The two leaders reviewed the progress of CPEC’s second phase and expressed satisfaction with its steady development. They agreed to accelerate its implementation and expand cooperation to maximize mutual benefits.
Additionally, both sides committed to maintaining close strategic coordination on critical issues and enhancing collaboration at multilateral forums to advance shared objectives.
