 Dasu launched a technical course for local youth

Dasu Hydropower Project (DHPP) has announced a short-term technical and vocational course for the youth of Upper Kohistan, one of the backward areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The objective of the course is to equip young people with technical and professional skills, enabling them to find work in the local job market.

With the sponsorship from DHPP, the young people will attend three-month classes at Applied Technologies Institute (ATIN) NLC Mandra and ATIN NLC Dina located in Punjab. Any youngster, holding CNIC and domicile certificate of Upper Kohistan, can apply for the course with basic qualification of matriculation or even matric.

During the course, the youth can learn computer applications, graphic designing and auto CAD in Information Technology. Plumbing, aluminum fabrication and welding in Construction Technology, Building electrician, solar system technician under Electrical Technology, Auto mechanics and automobile electricians under Automobile Technology while tailoring in Services.

The participants will also have opportunities to learn the skills of LTV and HTV driving as well as Dump Truck Driver. Those already holding LTV driving and three years of experience are eligible for HTV and dump truck driving. There are also opportunities to become construction machinery operators. The interested youth can apply at the office of the Deputy Commissioner Kohistan to avail the opportunity.

4320MW DHPP is a run of river project on the Indus River located seven kilometers upstream of Dasu Town, District Kohistan.

China Gezhouba Group Company (CGGC) is the main works contractor of the project, which will provide green and low-cost electricity to the National Grid.
