On Saturday in Second High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development in Beijing, he stated these remarks during a panel discussion that CPEC contributes to sustainable development.
In order to promote sustainable development, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has proposed a four-pronged approach that includes coordinating national programs with global agenda, encouraging regional and global cooperation, promoting innovation, and exchanging knowledge.
In order to achieve a comprehensive and integrated approach to development, the Minister revealed that the 5Es plan—which includes Exports, E-Pakistan, Environment & Climate Change, Energy and Infrastructure, and Equity and Empowerment—was established.
He claimed that Pakistan strives for equitable development, efficient resource use, and environmental sustainability by focusing on these five pillars.
Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the country’s efforts to address climate change, adding that the move to renewable energy sources, in particular, is one way that efforts in green energy directly support international climate goals.
Commenting about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, he stated that through improving infrastructure, increasing energy production, and generating economic possibilities, it has made a major contribution to Pakistan’s sustainable development.
He claimed that greater connectivity has enabled commerce and economic growth through the construction of new roads and railroads under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Pakistan’s energy capacity has also grown as a result of CPEC renewable energy projects, which include solar and wind power plants. These projects also support the use of cleaner, sustainable energy sources.
The Minister emphasized the significance of public-private partnerships by stating that we need to promote cross-border partnerships, encourage public-private partnerships, and include academia and civil society.
He asserted that cooperation is necessary to restructure the post-World War II international financial systems, that are out of step with contemporary global realities and development issues.
According to him, innovation is the main propellant of sustainable development and the new paradigm for development. A faster path to sustainable goals can be achieved by funding research and development and encouraging technical developments, especially in sectors like clean energy, agriculture, and digital infrastructure.
He claimed that China’s recent advancements in e-governance and the digital economy serve as evidence of how innovation may promote greater efficiency and inclusivity. The Minister stated that in order to promote innovation, it is essential to provide an environment characterized by principles that facilitate technology enablement, a startup ecosystem, and investment in sustainable technologies.
The Federal Minister underlined the value of international partnership in research.
According to him, artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing all fields. This is because international collaboration in these areas, through collaborative research projects, technology-sharing agreements, and inclusive global governance, can result in ground-breaking solutions to common issues.
According to him, sharing information is essential for benefiting from one another’s experiences. We may also share best practices, lessons learned, and creative solutions by setting up forums for dialogue and sharing.
The China International Development Cooperation Agency was acknowledged by Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal for this chance and for being an important partner in the exchange of knowledge. He congratulated Chairman of CIDCA, Lou Zhaohui for implementing the vision of President Xi.
According to Ahsan Iqbal, creating knowledge hubs and promoting international student exchanges will guarantee that everyone can move closer to our shared goals.
In an effort to create a better future for everybody, the Minister urged people all throughout the world to pledge to collaborate and take advantage of one another’s resources and strengths.
He stated, “We will build a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient future through our collective actions.”
The Minister expressed his sincere gratitude to President Xi Jinping for paving the way for sharing and cooperation.
