CM Punjab Maryam meets Li Hongzhong in Beijing to strengthen bilateral ties and strategic cooperation.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with Li Hongzhong, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, in Beijing, as reported by Express News. The discussions aimed at deepening the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
Li Hongzhong extended a warm welcome to Maryam Nawaz and her delegation upon their arrival. Both parties emphasized their dedication to enhancing bilateral ties and strengthening their strategic collaboration. He commended the Nawaz family’s longstanding role in fostering Pakistan-China relations.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz described her visit as a symbol of friendship, especially for the emerging generation of political leaders. She highlighted her intent to draw insights from China’s governance model to enhance governance in Punjab. “This being my first official visit reflects our sustained commitment to strengthening the fraternal bonds between Pakistan and China,” she remarked.
Li Hongzhong expressed appreciation for Maryam Nawaz’s perspectives on China’s governance, global politics, development strategies, and cultural heritage. “It is a privilege to engage with a dynamic and forward-thinking leader like the Chief Minister of Punjab,” he noted.
He reaffirmed China’s unwavering support for the further development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and emphasized elevating bilateral ties to unprecedented levels. Additionally, he praised Maryam Nawaz’s dedication to serving the people of Punjab and her active role in fortifying Pakistan-China relations.
The meeting concluded with both leaders pledging to take concrete measures to enhance and stabilize their bilateral relations, ensuring mutual benefits for both nations.
