Chinese modernization serves as model for Pakistan to promote economic development: Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that China’s distinctive model of modernization serves as a blueprint for Pakistan to drive its own economic progress. He conveyed this message while congratulating China on the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic’s founding.
Sharif praised China’s significant accomplishments and expressed Pakistan’s aspiration to revive its economy by following China’s successful development path. He emphasized that China’s growth offers valuable opportunities to nations worldwide, including Pakistan, in a recent interview with Chinese media.
The prime minister highlighted China’s commitment to inclusiveness and multilateralism, describing it as a foundation for fostering peaceful global interactions. This approach, he said, enhances understanding among nations and boosts cooperation in areas like trade, investment, and cultural exchanges.
Sharif also referenced a recent reconciliation dialogue in Beijing, where 14 Palestinian factions convened with China’s mediation. He cited this as an example of China’s constructive role in promoting both regional and global peace and development.
Lauding the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and China, Sharif described the relationship as exemplary, based on mutual trust and respect. He noted that the two nations have consistently supported each other and collaborated on the international stage to advance the cause of regional and global peace and stability.
CPEC as road to Socio Economic Development
Discussing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a major component of the Belt and Road Initiative, Sharif emphasized its role in advancing Pakistan’s socio-economic development.
Launched in 2013, CPEC connects Gwadar Port in Pakistan’s Balochistan province to Kashgar in China’s Xinjiang region. The project initially prioritized energy, transport, and industrial partnerships.
Sharif pointed out that during CPEC’s first phase, Pakistan resolved key issues like road infrastructure and electricity shortages that previously hampered its economy. He remarked that CPEC has now moved into a new phase of high-quality development, focusing on deeper collaboration with China in sectors such as agriculture, information technology, and mining.
The prime minister reaffirmed that Pakistan and China would continue their cooperation, strengthening economic ties and further elevating their deep-rooted friendship to even greater heights.
