Chinese FM meets president of Constitutional Council of France in Beijing as the partnership between two countries grows stronger.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Laurent Fabius, the president of France’s Constitutional Council, in Beijing on Monday.
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized that the relationship between China and France has consistently evolved to a high standard.
Both nations value their independence and align with the global trend towards multipolarity, which enhances world peace and stability, Wang stated.
He expressed China’s firm support for free trade and its commitment to preserving the global trading system.
Wang acknowledged that the recent challenges in economic and trade relations between China and the European Union are not beneficial for either party. He urged the EU to focus on long-term interests and to address mutual concerns through negotiation and consultation with China.
Fabius reaffirmed France’s diplomatic commitment to maintaining independence and its longstanding friendship with China.
He also noted that France has consistently opposed coercive actions and advocates for resolving issues through dialogue and consultation.
Moreover, the two officials also discussed the Ukraine crisis and collaborative efforts to combat climate change.
