Following the killing of two Chinese nationals in a terrorist attack in Karachi, Chinese diplomatic mission launches emergency plan as announced by the embassy on Monday. The Chinese government urged Pakistan to conduct a thorough investigation, punish those responsible, and take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, projects, and installations.
In an official statement, the Chinese Embassy confirmed the launch of the emergency plan and emphasized the need for Pakistan to investigate the incident and safeguard Chinese interests in the country. It also reminded Chinese citizens and enterprises in Pakistan to remain alert, enhance security measures, and prioritize safety.
The embassy strongly condemned the attack, offering condolences to the victims and their families and expressing solidarity with both nations. The Chinese diplomatic mission affirmed its commitment to cooperating with Pakistan in managing the aftermath of the incident, confirming that two Chinese nationals were killed and one was injured.
Response of Pakistan’s Foreign Office
Moreover, Pakistan’s Foreign Office reaffirmed the country’s close partnership with China, describing their relationship as one of mutual respect and shared destiny. Pakistan further reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens and vowed to work together to combat terrorism. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack, pledging to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The terrorist attack targeted a convoy carrying Chinese staff from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company near Karachi’s airport. Consequently, the Baloch Liberation Army’s Majeed Brigade claimed responsibility for the attack.
Additionally, in response, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah held a meeting with law enforcement officials to assess the security situation in Karachi. He condemned the attack and ordered intensified intelligence operations. A joint committee of police and law enforcement agencies was formed to investigate the explosion.
