Chinese, Chadian presidents elevate bilateral ties to advance them to a strategic partnership level.
On Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, who is in Beijing for the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit.
During their meeting, the two leaders announced the upgrade of their bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership.
Xi highlighted that China and Chad have seen significant benefits from their collaboration under initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative and FOCAC.
He noted that China has been Chad’s largest trading and investment partner for years, and this practical cooperation has positively impacted both nations. Xi expressed China’s readiness to further align development strategies with Chad and advance their bilateral relationship.
