China’s annual Spring Festival travel rush, the world’s largest yearly human migration, kicked off ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
This year’s festival marks the Year of the Horse, with an extra-long nine-day public holiday from February 15 to 23, prompting millions to travel for family reunions and celebrations.
Officials forecast a record 9.5 billion passenger trips, surpassing last year’s 9.02 billion, while ticket prices have surged and flights are selling out quickly, highlighting the massive demand for travel.
