China’s domestically produced C909 aircraft successfully completed its first landing in Brunei after crossing the sea from Guangzhou, China, on Tuesday.
This marks the first-ever landing of China’s homegrown C909 aircraft in Brunei. To commemorate the milestone, Brunei hosted a ceremony at Brunei International Airport to celebrate the inaugural flight of the direct route connecting Guangdong to the capital city, Bandar Seri Begawan.
During the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Xiao Jianguo emphasized that the direct flight signifies a significant advancement in the connectivity between China and Brunei under the Belt and Road Cooperation. It also marks the first time a Chinese-made C909 commercial aircraft has touched down in Brunei, highlighting the strong interest of Chinese airline companies in entering the Brunei market.
Currently, Brunei has established flight connections with several regions in China, including Guangxi and Zhejiang provinces.
