There is a Chinese saying, “The whole year’s work depends on a good start in Spring” and China is going to hold the biggest event of the year, Beijing Winter Olympics during the Spring Festival which is a sign of good luck and would open a new global chapter in the history of winter sports, said Pakistani’s experts based in China.
Shahida Zubair, a columnist, and International Affairs expert said that Pakistani skier Muhammad Karim will be on stage in the giant slalom on 16 February and Shahida wished him the greatest success.
She further said that Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics are the major international sports event of this year, and Beijing will be the first city in the world to host both Winter and Summer Olympics.
“We fully support China for holding this event despite the COVID-19. Beijing Winter Olympics is a symbol of hope, unity, and love and message for the world. Let’s go together for a shared future”, Shahida added.
Shahid Afraz Khan, a Foreign Expert in China Media Group stated that truly it is an honor for him to witness this historic occasion of the 2022 Beijing Winter Games as Beijing will become 1st city to host both Summer and Winter Olympics. Keeping in view the situation of pandemics across the world, all the credit goes to China for hosting this mega sports event as per schedule.
He said that China has shown its tremendous commitment to uphold and promote the true Olympic spirit which is to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport practiced in accordance with Olympism and its values.”
“I am also happy that Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan is also visiting China as a special guest to show great solidarity and support for Beijing Winter Olympics. I am confident that with the support of the international community China will deliver a safe, simple, and splendid winter games and will add a new glorious chapter of Olympics history”, he said.
Pakistanis’ expert Sara Afzel stated that this is very special to witness the combination of the Chinese Spring Festival with the Olympics as well, and Sara believes it’s like a double-special time for everybody. No doubt the new year is an extravaganza of colors but this time this event has built up momentum for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics as well.
“I feel so lucky to be in Beijing at this historic moment and this time of year is very special for me and I am very much excited to witness all the activities of this Mega event”, she mentioned.
She is excited and very optimistic about the Olympic theme, ‘Together for the shared Future’, and hopes that this will bring countries closer to cooperating for the betterment of humanity and for our home earth.
The 2022 Beijing winter Olympics, which is scheduled to start on Friday, makes the Pakistani community here excited and longing to watch the games.
