China welcomes Pakistan, India ceasefire as stated by a foreign ministry spokesperson on Monday.
Beijing on Monday voiced its approval of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, affirming its willingness to continue playing a constructive role in achieving a lasting and comprehensive ceasefire.
“The realization of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan serves the fundamental and long-term interests of both India and Pakistan, is conducive to the peace and stability of the region, and meets the general expectations of the international community,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said.
During a routine press briefing, Lin emphasized that India and Pakistan are close neighbors who cannot be separated geographically, and both also share borders with China.
He noted that since tensions escalated between the two countries, China has maintained close communication with both sides, urging them to remain calm, exercise restraint, and prevent further conflict.
China hopes that India and Pakistan will sustain the positive momentum from the ceasefire, avoid any resurgence of hostilities, resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiations, and return to the path of political resolution.
Lin concluded by saying that China is ready to continue its engagement with both India and Pakistan to help solidify a long-term ceasefire and contribute to regional peace and stability.
