China, Vietnam launch new international road transport route, enhancing regional connectivity and cutting down travel time.
At 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, trucks loaded with electronic parts, fresh produce, and essential goods set off simultaneously from Nanning in Guangxi and Kunming in Yunnan, heading toward Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi.
This marks the first instance of Chinese cargo vehicles, under the Greater Mekong Sub-region Cross-border Transport Facilitation Agreement (CBTA), directly accessing inland areas of Vietnam through a newly launched route.
The new route significantly boosts international road connectivity between China and Vietnam, bringing a major increase in transportation efficiency.
Compared to older routes, the corridor cuts travel time by around one day per truck and reduces transport costs by up to 1,000 yuan (approximately 139 U.S. dollars).
