Chinese Premier Li Qiang expressed China’s willingness to collaborate with Egypt to uphold economic globalization and maintain the stability of the international economic and trade order. He made these remarks during discussions with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Kamal Madbouly.
Li emphasized the importance of both nations defending the shared interests of developing countries and promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond. He noted that Egypt holds a key place in China’s Middle East diplomacy.
Marking the 10th anniversary of their comprehensive strategic partnership in 2024, Li highlighted the importance of the meetings between Presidents Xi Jinping and Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in guiding future bilateral ties. Looking ahead to the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026, he called for closer high-level exchanges and deeper strategic dialogue to solidify mutual trust and expand cooperation.
Li encouraged both sides to support each other’s modernization efforts and work together to deliver greater benefits to their populations. He also stressed the importance of aligning development strategies and promoting investment and joint projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, particularly those improving livelihoods.
He urged enhanced people-to-people and cultural ties through collaboration in culture, tourism, media, youth, and local governance to strengthen public support for bilateral relations.
Li reaffirmed China’s support for Egypt’s growing role in international and regional matters and proposed deeper cooperation through multilateral platforms such as the UN and SCO. He called for joint efforts to defend multilateralism, uphold globalization, protect the interests of developing countries, and ensure regional peace and stability.
Prime Minister Madbouly praised the deep-rooted and enduring relationship between Egypt and China. He said the comprehensive strategic partnership has flourished under the leadership of both nations’ presidents and affirmed Egypt’s firm support for the one-China principle and China’s positions on Taiwan, Xizang, and Hong Kong.
Thanking China for its contributions to Egypt’s development, Madbouly expressed a desire to boost political trust and expand cooperation across traditional sectors like trade, finance, and infrastructure, as well as in new areas like renewable energy, green technology, and space. He also emphasized stronger people-to-people exchanges and advancing China-Africa and China-Arab world collaboration.
Madbouly appreciated China’s principled stance on Middle East issues and expressed readiness to work more closely with China in multilateral platforms like the UN and BRICS to protect shared interests and promote regional peace.
Following the meeting, Li and Madbouly witnessed the signing of multiple cooperation agreements covering e-commerce, green development, financial cooperation, health, and development aid.
