Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the importance of boosting two-way trade and investment with Egypt, strengthening industrial integration and market connectivity to foster deeper mutually beneficial cooperation. He made these remarks during a meeting with Hanafy Ali Gebaly, Speaker of Egypt’s House of Representatives, as part of his official visit to Egypt at the invitation of Prime Minister Mostafa Kamal Madbouly.
Li noted that despite the geographical distance, China and Egypt share a deep-rooted and longstanding friendship. He emphasized that their diplomatic ties have remained strong and vibrant regardless of global changes, reflecting a solid and enduring partnership.
He expressed China’s willingness to build on this traditional friendship by deepening political trust, supporting each other’s core interests, and elevating bilateral relations for greater benefits to both peoples.
Li also stressed the importance of continued exchanges between legislative bodies, encouraging closer policy dialogue and experience-sharing on governance to enhance mutual understanding.
He pointed out that China is ready to align development strategies with Egypt, particularly by advancing high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. Platforms like the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation should be leveraged to strengthen economic and trade relations.
According to Li, the two countries should work together to ensure the sustainable operation of major bilateral projects, simplify trade and investment procedures, and collaborate in new sectors like digital technology and green development for enhanced mutual benefit.
He further stated that China is keen to maintain close coordination with Egypt through multilateral organizations such as the UN, BRICS, and SCO, in order to uphold international norms and contribute positively to global peace and development.
Speaker Gebaly acknowledged the deep historical and cultural ties between Egypt and China, hailing China’s impressive development achievements. He expressed confidence in China’s modernization path under President Xi Jinping and its potential to create new opportunities for the developing world.
Gebaly reaffirmed Egypt’s support for the one-China principle and its stance against external interference in China’s internal affairs.
He expressed Egypt’s readiness to broaden cooperation with China under the Belt and Road framework, especially in trade, investment, and clean energy. He also stressed the importance of multilateral collaboration and preserving a WTO-centered trading system to tackle global issues together.
