Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a meeting with Thailand’s Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in Beijing on Friday.
Wang, who is also part of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee Political Bureau, conveyed President Xi Jinping’s warm greetings to King Maha Vajiralongkorn and extended sympathies for the loss of lives and damage caused by the recent earthquake in Thailand.
He acknowledged Princess Sirindhorn as a long-time friend of the Chinese people and a key figure in fostering China-Thailand relations. Wang highlighted that through her 55 visits to China, Sirindhorn has witnessed the nation’s transformation and shared China’s modernization journey with the Thai public, greatly advancing mutual understanding.
Wang expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with Thailand in celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations and to pave the way for another prosperous 50 years of friendship, aiming to enhance the well-being of both nations.
Princess Sirindhorn reaffirmed the Thai royal family’s deep appreciation for its ties with China and noted that Thailand has gained significantly from bilateral cooperation in areas such as agriculture, technology, and culture. She voiced her commitment to strengthening the Thailand-China relationship further.
