Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi attended the meeting. Wang Yi said that today’s world is undergoing accelerating changes unseen in a century which feature sluggish world economic recovery and rising geopolitical tensions. Yet the pursuit of peace, development and cooperation is still the unstoppable trend of the times, and multi-polarity, economic globalization and democratization of international relations remain the order of the day.
Countries urgently need to strengthen solidarity and coordination, act on true multilateralism, and jointly meet risks and challenges, in a bid to build a community with a shared future for mankind. Wang noted that exchanges and cooperation among China, Russia and Indonesia, all leading representatives of emerging markets and important members of the Group of 20, serve the common interests of the three sides, and are conducive to advancing the process of multilateralism and promoting regional peace and stability. As a dialogue partner of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), China backs the ASEAN-centered regional cooperation architecture, and supports ASEAN countries in keeping to the right direction of East Asia cooperation, and accelerating the building of the ASEAN Community.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi shared their views on the current international and regional situation. They noted that the meeting is a meaningful attempt for trilateral dialogue and exchanges, and has demonstrated their consensus on upholding the ASEAN centrality and the ASEAN Way, and that they will continue to maintain communication on this matter. The three sides also exchanged views on food and energy security, and expressed the view that global governance should be improved to keep supply chains smooth and unimpeded and ensure the food and energy security of developing countries.
