China and Russia agree to expand energy cooperation in wake of the Chinese Vice Premier to Russia.
China and Russia have committed to deepening their cooperation in investment and energy sectors, further strengthening their bilateral relations. This commitment was made during a series of recent high-level meetings.
Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang visited Russia from Sunday to Tuesday, participating in the 11th China-Russia Investment Cooperation Committee meeting, the 21st China-Russia Energy Cooperation Committee meeting, and the 6th China-Russia Energy Business Forum.
Ding, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the strategic discussions and agreements between the two heads of state, which have created a new blueprint for China-Russia relations and cooperation in various fields.
China is prepared to work with Russia to implement the important consensus reached by their leaders, aiming to elevate investment and energy cooperation, achieving mutual benefits, win-win results, and common development, Ding stated.
He emphasized that, under the strategic guidance of their leaders, China-Russia investment and energy cooperation has made significant progress, benefiting both nations. He called for plans to guide bilateral investment, steady advancement of major projects, and the creation of a favorable investment environment.
Ding also stressed the need for deepened cooperation in the energy sector, including upstream, midstream, and downstream operations, energy technology innovation, and strategic coordination on global energy governance to promote high-quality cooperation.
The Russian representatives praised the development of Russia-China relations and their practical cooperation achievements. They congratulated the successful third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and noted that the key reform resolution adopted would promote China’s prosperity and provide new opportunities for Russia-China relations.
Russia expressed its willingness to fully implement the consensus reached by their leaders, leveraging investment and energy cooperation mechanisms to expand and deepen their partnership, thus contributing to the growth of the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership for the new era.
At the 6th China-Russia Energy Business Forum opening ceremony, Ding read a congratulatory letter from Chinese President Xi Jinping and delivered a speech.
Ding mentioned that in May, the two heads of state issued a joint statement on consolidating China-Russia strategic energy cooperation for high-level development to ensure economic and energy security for both countries.
He emphasized the need to maintain the positive momentum of energy trade cooperation, promote large-scale energy projects, expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy industry chain, and build a closer energy partnership.
Ding also noted that China is opening its doors wider to the world, offering more development opportunities through high-quality development. He invited Russian enterprises to participate in China’s modernization efforts, achieving better development by sharing in China’s opportunities.
Igor Sechin, executive secretary of the Russian Presidential Commission for the strategic development of the fuel and energy sector and environmental security, and chief of Russian oil company Rosneft, addressed the opening ceremony and read a congratulatory letter from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
