China remains confident about China-Japan-ROK cooperation, FM stated as he is on a state visit to Tokyo.
China places significant emphasis on cooperation with Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) and remains confident in its potential, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated on Friday.
While attending a meeting in Tokyo between Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and the foreign ministers of China, Japan, and the ROK, Wang highlighted the longstanding collaboration among the three nations. He noted that their partnership has yielded numerous achievements, holds vast potential, and has been instrumental in fostering mutual understanding and beneficial cooperation.
Wang referenced a common proverb in all three nations, “A nearby neighbor is better than a distant relative,” emphasizing that in an increasingly uncertain world, this wisdom underscores the importance of their cooperation.
He stressed that the advancement of China-Japan-ROK relations will strengthen regional peace and stability. Moreover, deeper collaboration among these countries will enhance their collective ability to tackle external challenges effectively.
As this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the global fight against fascism, Wang underscored the necessity of maintaining an accurate historical perspective to build a better future.
China, he affirmed, is ready to work alongside Japan and the ROK to develop a correct understanding of World War II history, uphold multilateralism, support the United Nations’ central role in the global system, and continuously advance cooperation for regional and global peace and prosperity.
