China will continue to fully and effectively implement the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and work towards enhancing free trade in the Asia-Pacific region to achieve shared development and prosperity, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated on Friday.
The RCEP marked its third anniversary since coming into effect on Wednesday.
Addressing questions about RCEP’s achievements over the past three years and its future prospects, spokesperson Mao Ning highlighted that the RCEP is the world’s largest free trade agreement, encompassing the largest population, trade volume, and development potential.
Mao emphasized that the RCEP has significantly energized regional economic integration in the Asia-Pacific, opened new market opportunities for member economies, and reinforced global confidence in multilateralism, speaking at a regular press conference.
Citing an Asian Development Bank study, she noted that the RCEP is projected to contribute $245 billion in economic growth and generate 2.8 million jobs across the region.
