China’s railway system saw an unprecedented surge in travel, managing close to 23.12 million passenger journeys on Thursday, marking the beginning of the May Day holiday, as per the national railway operator.
This number indicates an 11.7% rise compared to the same period last year, according to statistics published by China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. on Friday.
