The China Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka has officially surpassed one million visitors, marking a significant milestone for one of the event’s most visited and culturally rich exhibits.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Asakawa family from Japan walked into the China Pavilion and were surprised to see a welcome message on the big screen declaring them the “millionth visitor.” The family was presented with a panda doll and a set of cultural souvenirs to commemorate the occasion. Expressing their excitement, the Asakawas praised the pavilion’s stunning design and immersive experience. Yumi Asakawa shared her connection to China, mentioning her brother’s previous work there as a motivating reason for visiting the pavilion.
Zhang Shujing, Director of the China Pavilion, highlighted the moment as one worth celebrating. He noted the pavilion’s consistent popularity since the expo’s opening, crediting its rich exhibits, engaging activities, and thoughtful hospitality for drawing visitors from across the globe.
Visitors from different countries echoed similar sentiments. A group from the Dominican Republic called the pavilion “very interesting,” while younger guests were especially fascinated by the AI-powered Sun Wukong (Monkey King) installation, which responds to questions in Chinese, Japanese, and English.
Spanning about 3,500 square meters, the China Pavilion is among the largest self-built foreign pavilions at the World Expo 2025. Under the theme “Designing the Future Society of Our Lives,” the exhibit reflects traditional Chinese ecological wisdom and promotes the country’s vision for sustainable and green development. It also serves as a cultural bridge, fostering greater international understanding and cooperation.
As the Expo continues through October 13, the China Pavilion plans to roll out a series of themed events representing various provinces and regions, aiming to attract even more visitors and showcase a vibrant, authentic image of China.
