Chinese Vice President Han Zheng held a meeting with New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Winston Peters, in Beijing on Wednesday.
Han highlighted that the leaders of both nations previously met during the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in November, where they provided strategic direction for advancing China-New Zealand relations from a fresh starting point.
With the China-New Zealand comprehensive strategic partnership now in its second decade, Han emphasized China’s commitment to strengthening ties with New Zealand. He reaffirmed China’s willingness to implement the key agreements reached by the leaders, foster mutual understanding, and ensure the long-term, stable growth of their partnership.
Peters, in response, reiterated New Zealand’s commitment to its relationship with China. He expressed New Zealand’s interest in boosting dialogue, increasing mutual understanding, and deepening economic and trade cooperation as a proactive partner of China.
