The China-Laos Railway has become a driving force for regional economic growth, three years after its inauguration, according to China’s railway operator.
With safe and sustainable operations, the railway has facilitated over 43 million passenger trips and transported 48.3 million tonnes of cargo as of Monday, reported the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.
Stretching 1,035 kilometers, the railway is a key project under the Belt and Road Initiative. It links Kunming, in southwestern China, to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, and began operations on December 3, 2021.
