A spokesperson from the Ministry of Commerce stated on Friday that Japan’s proposed export restrictions on semiconductors would disrupt regular trade between Chinese and Japanese companies, negatively impacting businesses in both nations.
The spokesperson emphasized that China retains the right to take necessary actions to safeguard its legitimate interests.
The statement criticized certain countries for broadly applying the concept of national security and misusing export control measures to suppress China’s semiconductor industry and other key sectors.
China urged Japan to heed industry concerns, reconsider its stance, and align its actions with international trade regulations. Strengthening China-Japan economic cooperation should be prioritized to ensure that such measures do not hinder bilateral trade growth.
The spokesperson stressed the importance of collaboration to maintain stable and efficient global industrial and supply chains.
Japan is currently seeking public feedback on these proposed restrictions.
