China hosts 7-Day Iftar Program in Gwadar to offer nutritious meals and drinks to people in need.
During the holy month of Ramadan, a seven-day Iftar reception began on March 24 in Gwadar, providing meals to hundreds of underprivileged locals. This initiative is a joint effort by the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, China Overseas Port Holding Company (COPHC), and the local NGO “Helping Hand Foundation Gwadar.” The program, which will continue until March 30, offers free nutritious meals and drinks to those in need. The Chinese Embassy extended warm wishes to the people of Gwadar for a blessed Ramadan. Each day, over 300 individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds are served Iftar.
The Iftar meal consists of fresh water, beverages, traditional sweet and savory delights, and local dishes. A COPHC representative stated that the special Iftar receptions are part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, emphasizing solidarity with Gwadar’s Muslim residents.
An official from the Helping Hand Foundation acknowledged the generous support from the Chinese Embassy, describing it as an unprecedented act of goodwill. He noted that beyond providing food for the less fortunate, this gesture boosts the morale of local youth by reinforcing the strong bond between the Chinese and Gwadar communities.
Another representative from the Helping Hand Foundation commended COPHC and Chinese authorities for their efforts, emphasizing that such contributions for a religious occasion highlight China’s commitment to inclusivity and coexistence.
China’s seven-day Iftar initiative has been received with great enthusiasm, leaving a lasting impression of generosity, humanitarian values, and strong people-to-people ties between China and the underprivileged community of Gwadar.
