China and France released a joint statement on climate change on Thursday, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement. Both countries reiterated their commitment to strengthening international cooperation in tackling climate-related challenges.
China remains steadfast in promoting global climate governance and fully supports France in organizing the 10th-anniversary events for the Paris Agreement, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated following discussions with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot in Beijing. He also confirmed that China will send a senior delegation to the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice this June.
During their discussions, Wang highlighted that China and France have agreed on multiple initiatives, including expanding open cooperation, fostering cultural and educational exchanges, and reinforcing multilateral engagement.
Wang further mentioned that both nations will conduct three high-level meetings this year on strategic affairs, economic and financial matters, and cultural exchanges. Additionally, regular parliamentary meetings will be scheduled at an appropriate time to enhance dialogue and mutual understanding.
With 2025 marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and the European Union, Wang emphasized the importance of maintaining a mutually beneficial partnership. He urged both sides to resolve disputes through dialogue and work toward new opportunities for bilateral collaboration.
