China’s Ministry of Commerce announced on Friday that it has officially lodged a complaint with the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) dispute resolution body. This action follows the United States’ recent decision to impose “reciprocal tariffs” on all of its trade partners.
A ministry spokesperson stated that the U.S. move to implement these tariffs is a severe breach of WTO regulations, as it infringes upon the lawful rights of other WTO members and harms the foundational principles of the global trade system.
Describing the measure as an example of unilateral bullying, the spokesperson emphasized that such actions disrupt the balance of global trade and economic stability. China strongly opposes these tactics.
The spokesperson reiterated China’s commitment to upholding the global trade framework and supporting multilateral systems. They called on the United States to reverse its tariff decisions and put an end to its unilateral actions.
