China, Egypt vow enhanced regional cooperation as Chinese special envoy on Middle East meets Egypt’s Foreign Minister.
Zhai Jun, China’s special envoy for Middle East affairs, visited Egypt from Tuesday to Wednesday and met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty along with other senior officials.
He commended the recent progress in China-Egypt relations, describing them as a model of solidarity, cooperation, and mutual benefit between China and developing nations.
Zhai expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with Egypt on implementing key agreements made by their leaders, emphasizing mutual support and advancing practical cooperation across multiple sectors.
He also highlighted Egypt’s important role in international and regional matters and affirmed China’s willingness to strengthen communication and coordination to jointly uphold global fairness and justice.
On their part, Egyptian officials noted the significant growth in bilateral ties, reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for China’s core interests and the one-China principle, and expressed eagerness to boost high-level exchanges and deepen cooperation in trade, investment, and international coordination.
Egypt appreciated China’s consistent stance on critical issues like Palestine and showed willingness to collaborate in promoting multilateralism and easing tensions globally and regionally.
Both sides exchanged views on various regional conflicts, including the Gaza situation, as well as the conditions in Syria, Sudan, and the Red Sea region.
