China Eastern Airlines launched a new direct flight route on Wednesday morning, connecting Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province, with Paris. This new service links one of China’s major economic centers directly to a key European destination.
The outbound flight MU845 departs from Nanjing Lukou International Airport every Wednesday at 12:45 a.m. Beijing Time and lands in Paris at 7 a.m. local time. The return flight MU846 leaves Paris at 2:20 p.m. local time the same day and arrives back in Nanjing at 7:30 a.m. the next morning.
The route has seen strong interest, with more than 90 percent of economy class seats sold for the inaugural flight, reflecting high demand for the service.
A Nanjing-based tour guide named Xie shared that he used to fly from Shanghai to Paris, but the new direct route reduces round-trip travel time by five to six hours. He also noted that Paris acts as an important gateway to other European destinations like Spain, Portugal, and Norway.
Nanjing Lukou International Airport is a major transportation hub in eastern China, currently hosting 56 airlines and offering flights to over 120 global destinations, including cities such as Milan, Sydney, and Amsterdam.
