China has unveiled the world’s first domestically developed T1200-grade ultra-high-strength carbon fiber, marking a historic advancement in the country’s advanced materials sector. Developed by China National Building Material Group, this industrialized product is capable of hundred-ton-level mass production, making China the first country globally to achieve such output at this grade.
With a diameter less than one-tenth of a human hair, T1200 carbon fiber offers tensile strength about ten times that of conventional steel while weighing only a quarter as much. This combination of lightness and toughness sets it apart as a revolutionary material for strategic emerging industries.
The ultra-high-strength carbon fiber is expected to have broad applications in sectors such as aerospace, low-altitude economy, and humanoid robotics, significantly boosting China’s technological and industrial capabilities. This development not only fills a critical gap in the global market but also represents a major step forward in China’s self-reliance in advanced materials production.
