Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning stated on Monday that China strongly opposes and condemns attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in Sudan, expressing hopes for a swift ceasefire.
Recent drone strikes in Port Sudan, located along Sudan’s Red Sea coast, have hit key sites, including the city’s airport and port, causing damage to civilian infrastructure.
Mao Ning, during a regular press briefing, urged all sides involved in the conflict to take steps to protect civilians and safeguard essential facilities.
She emphasized that China maintains a neutral and fair stance on Sudan’s conflict and hopes for an immediate ceasefire, improved humanitarian conditions, progress in the political process, and a return to peace, stability, and development in the country.
