Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson stated on Sunday that China is closely monitoring the situation in Syria and hopes for the restoration of stability as soon as possible.
This comment came in response to a report regarding Syria’s anti-government forces entering Damascus and declaring the fall of the Syrian government.
The spokesperson emphasized that China has been assisting its nationals wishing to leave Syria, ensuring their safe and orderly departure, while maintaining contact with those still in the country and providing safety guidance.
The spokesperson also urged all relevant parties in Syria to safeguard the safety and security of Chinese institutions and personnel in the country.
The Chinese Embassy in Syria continues its operations and is committed to providing assistance to Chinese nationals in need, the spokesperson concluded.
