China, Brazil vow unity for Global South as Chinese FM Wang Yi meets Brazilian counterpart and the special advisor to Brazil’s president.
Chinese and Brazilian leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the rights of Global South nations, advocating multilateralism, and contributing positively to global peace, stability, and development through deeper coordination and cooperation.
During meetings in Beijing on Monday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and Celso Amorim, a special advisor to Brazil’s president. They held thorough discussions on bilateral ties and key international and regional matters of mutual concern.
The officials reviewed recent high-level interactions between their two presidents and prepared for upcoming talks between the heads of state, aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation.
Both nations agreed to advance the construction of a China-Brazil community with a shared future, guided by the vision of their leaders. They committed to upholding multilateralism, defending international norms, and protecting the Global South’s interests, while contributing to global peace and development.
As China, Brazil vow unity for Global South, they also discussed the ongoing Ukraine conflict, voicing support for direct talks between Russia and Ukraine. They expressed readiness to support the Group of Friends for Peace in building international consensus toward a political resolution of the crisis.
