China backs Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts as Chinese Consul General Yundong Yang expressed his country’s support during a ceremony in Karachi.
Chinese Consul General Yundong Yang urged Pakistan to take decisive action against terrorist groups, assuring China’s full backing in counter-terrorism initiatives. He made these comments during a ceremony at the Chinese Consulate in Karachi commemorating 33 years of the Balochistan Economic Forum and 12 years of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Addressing reporters, the Consul General firmly denounced the recent terrorist attack on a school van in Khuzdar, which injured several civilians including children. He described the attack as both tragic and intolerable, warning that such acts not only claim innocent lives but also jeopardize progress on vital development projects like CPEC.
Yang stressed the need for Pakistan to take robust measures to eradicate terrorist elements and dismantle their operational networks. He reaffirmed China’s readiness to provide Pakistan with all necessary resources and support to strengthen the fight against terrorism.
Highlighting the importance of peace and security, he noted that these elements are essential for sustainable cooperation between the two nations. With major investments in infrastructure, energy, and trade underway, Yang expressed confidence in Pakistan’s resolve to secure Chinese personnel and projects.
Reiterating the close strategic partnership, the Consul General said China and Pakistan are “iron brothers,” and that their cooperation in security and development would continue to deepen. He concluded by urging the Pakistani government to take immediate and effective steps to combat terrorism.
