The 2025 ASEAN-Oriented Cultural Exchange and Cooperation Forum was held in Liuzhou, Guangxi, bringing together participants from China, ASEAN nations, and global organisations.
This year’s forum centred on how museums can shape urban futures. Experts and scholars discussed industrial heritage preservation and the sustainable role of cultural institutions in modern cities.
Participants explored how AI, AR/VR, and big data can transform museums. These technologies enable digital preservation of relics, more engaging exhibitions, and immersive visitor experiences.
Hab Touch, Cambodia’s permanent secretary of state for culture, stressed the forum’s role in knowledge-sharing, overcoming common challenges, and expanding opportunities for regional collaboration in the digital era.
Originally launched as the China-ASEAN Cultural Forum, the event has been held 19 times, serving as a high-level cultural bridge between China and ASEAN. Guangxi, as the host, remains central to China’s opening-up and cooperation with ASEAN partners.
