Shenzhen – Center for Pakistan Studies inaugurated at Shenzhen University by the Ambassador of Pakistan to China Khalil Hashmi.

In a significant step to strengthen academic collaboration between Pakistan and China, the Center for Pakistan Studies was officially inaugurated today at Shenzhen University. The inauguration ceremony was led by Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, alongside Mr. Mao Junfa, President of Shenzhen University, with participation from scholars, faculty, and students.

The newly established center aims to foster deeper mutual understanding between the two countries through research, academic dialogue, and educational exchanges, with a special emphasis on emerging technologies and innovation. The center is set to become a hub for promoting Pakistan-related studies, joint research initiatives, and enhanced people-to-people ties, including student and business-to-business (B2B) engagement.

In his keynote address, Ambassador Hashmi expressed gratitude to the leadership of Shenzhen University for their support in bringing the vision of the center to life. He highlighted the growing strength of Pakistan-China relations, especially in education and research, and noted that Shenzhen is a fitting location for this endeavor given its reputation in innovation and reform.

“Academic platforms such as this center play a vital role in building long-term, people-centric linkages,” said Ambassador Hashmi. He also fondly recalled his visit to Shenzhen University a year earlier, expressing satisfaction over the center’s inauguration as a concrete outcome of those discussions.

Earlier in the day, the Ambassador met with President Mao Junfa to explore opportunities for utilizing the center to pursue mutually beneficial goals in academia, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He was also given a guided tour of the Shenzhen University History Museum, further strengthening institutional connections.

The Center for Pakistan Studies at Shenzhen University is expected to pave the way for new avenues of collaboration in fields ranging from technology and education to cross-border innovation, reinforcing the ever-deepening friendship between Pakistan and China.
