The discussion covered key issues including the provision of electricity to the Rashakai Special Economic Zone (SEZ), import and export policies for the Gwadar Free Zone, transit trade with Afghanistan and Central Asian countries through Gwadar Port, international seafood transshipment, and the development of the Karachi Coastal Comprehensive Development Zone, according to a news release.
Professor Iqbal instructed all relevant ministries to submit their feedback on pending issues promptly to ensure efficient progress. He emphasized the need for swift decision-making to avoid delays, which can deter investment.
He also directed the secretaries of the concerned ministries to create actionable plans to resolve unresolved issues and eliminate any backlogs. Addressing security for Chinese officials working on CPEC projects, he highlighted that security measures should not create fear or obstruct business operations.
The meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing any obstacles faced by Chinese investors and ensuring that CPEC projects move forward without delays.
Professor Iqbal called for improved coordination among ministries and efficient decision-making to enhance investor confidence and expedite the completion of critical projects.
Attendees included key government officials such as Federal Minister for Petroleum Division Musadiq Malik, Federal Minister for Energy Awais Laghari, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, and secretaries from relevant ministries, along with representatives from the CPEC Secretariat and the Planning Ministry.
