The “Kazan Declaration,” named after the Russian city where the BRICS Summit was held, emphasized the need for an unconditional ceasefire, the release of all hostages and detainees, and unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza. It also condemned Israeli attacks on humanitarian workers and infrastructure.
Expressing concern over the deteriorating situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, BRICS called for full implementation of UN Security Council resolutions and praised efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and other international actors to promote peace and aid.
The declaration also warned that further escalation could exacerbate regional and global tensions and urged all parties to exercise restraint and avoid provocative actions.
Additionally, BRICS reaffirmed its support for Palestine’s full UN membership, in line with its commitment to the two-state solution based on international law. It referenced the International Court of Justice’s provisional measures in South Africa’s case against Israel for genocide in Gaza.
Moreover, the BRICS Summit was attended by Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and new members Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was present as a guest.
