BRI cooperation brings tremendous opportunities to Pakistani youth: Pakistani scholar

BEIJING, May 23 – This year marks the 10th anniversary of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. First launched in 2013, it has achieved fruitful results in cooperation in various fields, including economy, science, technology and education. As a major force for the future, young people have been given tremendous opportunities for development in the Belt and Road projects.
The above views were expressed by Prof. Manzoor Hussain Soomro, Pakistani honorary professor of Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU), who is also the vice president of the Belt and Road International Science Education Consortium, in an interview with Gwadar Pro during his recent scholar visit to Beijing.
He added that BRI has provided a platform for international exchanges, innovation and entrepreneurship among young people, whose role in jointly building the Belt and Road has gradually become evident.
With the support of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), BTBU organized a range of international forums, international training and international exchanges through the Belt and Road Joint Training Center jointly established by its Pakistan Science, Technology and Economic Research Center and the Economic Cooperation Organization Science Foundation – an international science and technology organization based in Pakistan – to promote the connectivity between China and Pakistan and the Belt and Road Initiative, and provide youth a wealth of training programs and display platform.
Amjad from Yemen, an M.A. student majoring in International Business at BTBU, told the reporter that through regular academic events and seminars organized by the School of International Economics and Management, he has developed important academic skills that will help him in his future career. He said that “so far, 6 training sessions on a variety of cutting-edge practical topics were held, the third of which emphasized the importance of digital transformation, where I learned a lot about the new world economy and decided the direction of my future study and research.”
Professor Manzoor pointed out that nowadays, countries in the world are increasingly connected and the international community has become an indivisible whole. “Our goal is not only to link Pakistani universities  with Chinese ones, but also to be more international and try to develop links between Pakistani universities and international organizations, United Nations agencies and world-class universities in neighboring countries, which can help the nation pursue global development,” he concluded.
