China’s Middle East special envoy, Zhai Jun, recently concluded a high-level diplomatic visit to Qatar, Doha. During the trip, Beijing pledged to strengthen regional communication to help restore permanent peace in the Gulf. The meeting was held from June 15-16 between the counterparts.
Welcoming the US-Iran Breakthrough
In Doha, Zhai met with Qatari Minister of State Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi. Zhai warmly welcomed the first-stage memorandum of understanding reached between the United States and Iran. He praised Qatar’s successful mediation efforts to end recent hostilities and stabilize global energy markets.
The Chinese envoy urged all parties to stick to dialogue and resolve lingering disputes peacefully.
Deepening China-Qatar Strategic Ties
Both officials committed to expanding bilateral relations from a long-term, strategic perspective. China stands ready to work with Doha to implement key agreements reached by their heads of state. On the other hand, Al-Khulaifi affirmed that Qatar highly values its growing political trust and friendship with Beijing.
Maintaining Diplomatic Momentum
Qatar vowed to continue its active mediation to keep the US-Iran peace process moving forward. Al-Khulaifi also highly praised China’s ongoing diplomatic contributions to easing regional friction. Moving forward, both nations will collaborate closely to safeguard long-term security across the Gulf region.
