Beijing Airport gears up for Spring Festival travel rush with passenger trips expected to rise to 6.1 million.
The Beijing Daxing International Airport anticipates a passenger throughput of 6.1 million during China’s Spring Festival travel rush, reflecting a 9% year-on-year increase. The 40-day travel period, which started Tuesday, will run until February 22. Daily passenger numbers are expected to average 150,000, with 37,600 flights scheduled, marking a 5.6% annual rise.
Popular domestic destinations include Guangzhou, Changsha, Hangzhou, and Shanghai, while international travelers are favoring Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Britain. The airport currently operates nearly 70 international routes to 42 cities across 26 countries and regions.
Daxing Airport offers extensive amenities, including over 10 rest areas for overnight stays, round-the-clock information desks, restaurants, and shops, many of which accept overseas card payments. Additional services cater to foreign tourists, covering payments, communication, transport, and travel needs.
Strategically located 46 kilometers south of downtown Beijing, Daxing Airport was built to alleviate congestion at Beijing Capital International Airport in the city’s northeast. Positioned at the junction of Beijing’s Daxing District and Hebei’s Langfang city, it serves as a crucial travel hub for the region.
