Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, met with Zhao Chenxin, Vice Chairman of China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), in Beijing to discuss the progress and future plans for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
During their meeting, both officials held detailed discussions, reaffirming their dedication to advancing CPEC initiatives under the Belt and Road Initiative framework.
They agreed that “CPEC 2.0” represents a more advanced phase of collaboration, building on the accomplishments of the first phase of CPEC.
Ahsan Iqbal reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with China through CPEC and expressed enthusiasm for expanding cooperation in key areas such as industrial development, agriculture, and technological innovation.
Vice Chairman Zhao Chenxin highlighted the importance of the Pakistan-China partnership and reaffirmed Beijing’s intent to deepen its collaboration with Islamabad.
He emphasized that CPEC 2.0 would not only enhance economic connectivity but also support sustainable development for both nations.
The meeting is regarded as a significant step in shaping CPEC’s future, with a renewed emphasis on fostering economic growth and regional integration.
