Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal is arriving at Gwadar today on Tuesday in a fresh bid to double the efforts of quickening the progress in Gwadar and to personally review on the ground the development of Gwadar-related CPEC projects.
On his one-day visit at Gwadar, Ahsan Iqbal will reach the Chinese Business Center (CBC) in the morning and will receive briefing on South Balochistan and projects regarding CPEC security and Gwadar Port security.
During his first official tour, he will go to the University of Gwadar and will fraternize with the management, teachers and students on the occasion. He is scheduled to hobnob with local leaders, dignitaries, businessmen, traders, media practitioners, notable women and youth.
Among others, he plans to physically visit the East Bay Expressway, one of the landmark projects of Gwadar, which is highly likely to be officially inaugurated this month. Besides, he will go on a trip to K-2 and K-3 bridges as well.
Pak-China Friendship Hospital, being established on 68 acres of land and equipped with modern medical facilities for the people of Gwadar under Chinese grant, is among the various sites Mr. Ahsan Iqbal will visit and see the progress on the ground. With a cost of US$ 100 million, the Hospital is being executed jointly by Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) and the Government of Balochistan.
Another project of Solar System carried out by Chinese grant is to be visited by Ahsan Iqbal during his one-day Gwadar visit.
After meeting with COPHC chairman, he will be interacting with office-bearers of Gwadar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).
In his planned schedule, most important visits include Gwadar Port, Gwadar Free Zone and the under-construction 1.2 MGD desalination plant where he will be socializing with Chinese engineers, officials and workers.
He is also supposed to get briefing on digital connectivity in Gwadar, Gwadar Lasbela Livelihood project, rehabilitation of Pasni Fish Harbor, establishment of Shipyard of Gwadar, Pakistan-China Technical & Vocational Institute, M-8 Motorway (Hoshab-Awaran 146 km & Awaran-Naal 168 km), Gwadar Master plan, Gwadar International Airport and Gwadar Free Zone phase II.
